Joep Stapel is schrijver, dichter, de helft van een vertalersduo, amateurvoetballer en muzikant. Hij schrijft over klassieke muziek voor NRC. Met Jur Koksma vertaalt hij poëzie, bijvoorbeeld van Delmore Schwartz, John Ashbery en Eugenio Montale. In april 2019 bracht Meulenhoff zijn debuutroman Kaf uit; bij dezelfde uitgever verscheen in september 2022 zijn tweede roman, De onzichtbare.

Joep Stapel is a Dutch writer and music journalist. He is a classical and new music critic for national newspaper NRC. He has published two novels (Kaf, 2019, and De onzichtbare, 2022), stories, poetry, and essays. He is also active as a translator of poetry from Italian and English, in collaboration with Jur Koksma. Their anthology of Brooklyn poet Delmore Schwartz was published November 2020. Their translation of John Ashbery’s ‘The Skaters’ came out in May 2023.
